Duncan Hunter tells it like it is
Back to Full Blog

Duncan Hunter is the clear choice for the presidential office. Unlike some of his opponents, he has laid out a clear and concise platform for protecting this great country. He lays these out on his site using language we can all understand. I have taken the liberty of quoting his website so that everyone can hear his great words. Describing the biggest problem he sees in foreign trade, “China is…using billions of American trade dollars to build ships, planes and missiles.” On security, other candidates are considering becoming friends with evil countries! Only Hunter can protect us from “the whims of rogue nations and fascist dictators.” On religion, he will lead an active fight to keep ‘”Under God’ in our Pledge of Allegiance, ‘In God We Trust’ on our currency, the Ten Commandments in our courthouses.” Because he knows that these things “reveal our character as a people and inspire those throughout the world the opportunity that exists through religious freedom.” A freedom only offered by strict Christianity. I know I already feel safer today knowing that in less than 2 years this man will be leading our country, and I hope you do, too.

Deliver us from the "freedoms" provided by "strict Christianity".Freedom from religion will provide a greater sense of security. Please keep your gods out of the political arena. Religion causes more human suffering than does disease.

Thank you for your insight into this upcoming presidential election. I was hoping for a candidate that would uphold family morals and values, however, all anyone hears about on even the christian radio stations is Hillary Clinton and former NY Governor Guillani.
Now let's all hope and pray that Mrs. Clinton's power surge doesn't knock Hunter out of the race.

Being from California, I have heard of Duncan Hunter the congressman from the San Diego area. I believe that he is a good man. But, both history and politics will prove out that he doesn't realistically stand a chance for the number one slot. He would at best come up as a good Vice Presidential choice. In US history it's been over 150 years since a Congressmen was directly elected to the Presidency. And both money and media attention would be the second and third nails in that coffin.
I don't want to burst your bubble, because in fact i would probably vote for a guy like Hunter if I even though that he had the remotest of chances.
He'd certianly be my number one choice for our new Homeland security Director once they fire that incompetent Chertoff. but that's another story.
if you really want to affect change in our system, why not do the following. As I doing, withdraw from the unresponsive party system and re-register as an independent. Not the independent party, but just as an independent. You will then show the republican party that isn't responding to it's members, that you've had it with them. It makes you instantly a member of the most wooed group of voters in America during presidential years. And if we both liberal democrats and conservative republicans who are disillusioned with our professional politicians, become the largest block of voters: ie. Independents, we can then get some real answers, and real work on the politicos to actually tell us the truth on who they are and what they stand. this in order for them to flesh out some of the voters from this new more powerful "undecided" independent voter bloc.

I thank Sean for expressing his views about Duncan Hunter - and with whose views on China I am in agreement; not only that, but the Chinese and Russian Communists are almost solely responsible for instigating and supporting the wars in Korea, Vietnam, and Cambodia, and all the little South Asian grassfires we tried to put out - at great expense and loss of life to ourselves. The fact that North Korea is a nuclear threat, as may be Iran and Pakistan, and that North Korean troops and rockets are still trained on South Korea, are part of the same package.
Even though I appreciate some of Mr. Hunter's views, and like him personally, God save us from another Jesus Freak in government - particularly in the White House. I fear George W. Bush and the Religious Right, and the "military-industrial complex" more than I fear China, Iraq, Iran, N. Korea and all the other bogeymen, the fear of which, George W. Bush uses to keep the American voters in line.

I'd like to add that the Christian faith is the very thing that screwed me and my Pagan faith over. That object already plays enough of a part in our government. Any more, and I'll want nothing to do with it. Hundreds of years of being burned at the stake, hung, and stoned and you're hoping I root this guy on?

Frankly, keep beliefs out of government. Our government was founded to protect the common good and our natural rights, and I understand that neither can be done perfectly without the sacrifice of the other. But keeping religion out of the picture will help us achieve a ballance.

The first ammendment: freedom of religion.

Freedom of religion means freedom FROM religion, jackoff.

I am a vet USMC, I have watched Congressman Hunter over the years on the different major network news shows. The congressman is a good man just not very trust worthy. If you remember back several years ago he was telling all that the Iraquis were standing up. This prove to be a lie to the American public. Then he kept backing a failed policy in Iraq never standing up his party failure. So this just makes him a mouth piece for the Republican party. No back Bone. I would never vote for a man that refused to give our military as much time at home as in combat. Not only that but a man that voted to deny kids health care. We need to get some real answers, and real work out of our politicians. We might ever get them to actually tell us the truth about who they are and what they stand. We might even discover that the last 7 years have been nothing but lies.

Duncan Hunter could not be a worse choice unless you would consider asleep at the wheel Thompson could not even fine Fla, Rudy who has had more mistresses on the side than Bill. Then you have let me see if I can change my position Romney today. Maybe Ron Paul would be the best of the lot.

The "under god" was only added to our pledge of allegiance in the 1950's as a reaction to communist Russia. The author of the pledge of allegiance was a minister that knew the importance of separation of church and state.

Adding the "under god" is in itself hypocritical becuase it unnecessarily divides a country that is pledging to be united. As an atheist, I choose to substitute the words "under good". Works for me.

First, let's all remember the importance of accurate quotes. The quote previously used "under god" is incorrect. The actual quote reads "under God." Whether you choose to believe God's existence or not is of no importance to me. But when it comes to writing, make sure you express accurate information.

Second, how can anyone make any political or human interpretation of the statement "under good"? The word "good" itself is such a broad state of being that it will leave anyone, yourself included, wondering what it truly means.
Let's say, just for an example, I'm a "good" murderer. Is that a state of being that will benefit the people of the United States of America?

Lastly, we should all go back and re-educate ourselves about the reason why the pilgrims came to America in the first place. Whoever made the comment that the country was established on a "freedom from religion" is completely misinformed. The pilgrims came to America to escape religious injustices from the Church of England.

This is just another good example of how the freedom of press allows people to trust inaccurate information.

You think you have a problem, look at another Country where they have a self confessed homo at the head of the health system department, they now want those like him to be able to donate their organs upon their death, what is next, safe sex has gone out the door do we now add condoms to a donor transplant.

Just a thought, not nice, but there it is.
